A young entrepreneur, Chris van Gass, founder of Artvark, was announced as the winner of the Scooler R100k Clash on 12 November, in line with Global Entrepreneurial Week.
Artvark’s platform gives every school child the opportunity to upload and sell their art online. Commenting on his win, Chris says: “I speak for the entire Artvark team when I say that we cannot wait to use this amazing opportunity to reach more schools and empower more children.” The runners-up were: Werner Bronkhorst an artist doing commission work as well as customizing of clothes prints; he also offers art tutorials. Mfezeko Mncube sells mouth-watering true African Kasi Kotas bunny chows with a modern twist. Zoe Prinsloo sells biodegradable straws. Courtney and Tayla van Wyk create custom tie dye items. Junior Mtungwa owns a mobile car wash business and also does minor car repairs. Koketso Phasha produces casual clothing with his own unique brand. Caleb Lafford buys, renovates and sells furniture. Abiyah Swart sells plants and cacti in beautiful customized pots. Tsianda Netsianda produces rap and hip-hop music.
