Soul and Spirit is a business owned by myself Courtney age 16 and my sister Tayla age 15, we are students from Parklands College. Our business has been running for over 3 years and our biggest goal is to make our name a Brand Name.
We started off tie dying t-shirts but then started expanding our range to absolutely anything tie dye.
Our range consists of t-shirts, vests, crop tops, off the shoulder tops, long sleeve tees, Hoodies, long socks, short socks, caps, beach wraps, bags, buffs, towels, bedding and handmade jewlery.
We have realised that not only are we running a business but we also have the opportunity to use our business as a platform to do bigger and better things in our community.
We recently started a campaign called “A brighter Life” where we gave the public an opportunity to buy a beanie from us for R25 which we then tie dye. These Beanies will be donated to patients with cancer. Our aim was to reach 100 beanies which we have achieved.
Owning a business and using it as a platform means that we already have done all our marketing for our business and have created followers on Instagram and on Face Book which allows us the opportunity to reach more people when doing charity work.
We hope to inspire up and coming entrepreneurs as we grow our own business, so we have started doing this about a year ago where we host birthday tie dye parties. At the event we chat to the kids and tell them our story and how they to can become young
entrepreneurs. We then teach them how to tie dye their own item which is extremly exciting for most as they wait for the outcome.
Our items are unique as they are custom hand dyed according to the order.
Instagram is our biggest platform for sales but we are also working on a recipe to recruit ambassadors for our business in the different Provinces as well as setting up a Website for future online ordering.
We would like to wish all the entrants in this competition best of luck!
Everyone is a winner!
