Business Name: G5 Militaria
Facebook Page: web.facebook.com/G5Militaria/
In 2015 I developed an interest in historical memorabilia so I started to collect military items. My parents could not afford to support my hobby so I started G5.
My starting capital was raised by paying for a friend to catch a pig at a church fair. He caught the small piglet and we raised it. It was sold for R500 and my business was born.
Since then G5 has sourced an estimated 3000 items for military collectors. These items include belts, badges, uniforms, headgear, ranks and medals. I have done business with collectors in 12 different countries. Most of my sales is done via Facebook Messenger, although I have a Facebook page for G5, I do not actively use it.
All the profit of the business is used to fund my own military collection which main goal is to protect South Africa’s rich military heritage. South Africans sacrificed their lives in wars for the last 3 centuries and it is my small way of thanking them for their supreme sacrifice. My collection now has about 1750 pieces and some of it can be viewed on this Facebook Page:
